Now Hiring: Bike Shop Assistant (Part-Time)

About us:

Greenway Bikehouse is a new bike shop in Lansing, Illinois. We’re passionate about bicycles as a tool for healthy living, sustainability, and community-building. Our goal is to make bike ownership and riding affordable and enjoyable in order to improve our customers lives physically, mentally and socially. As we enter our second year of business we are looking to grow by hiring our first paid team member. This is a unique opportunity to play a multi-faceted role that can grow along with our business. 

Who we are looking for:

Our ideal shop assistant will be an adaptable, reliable, community-minded, and service-oriented problem solver who is knowledgeable about bicycles and can cross train to fill multiple areas of need.

 

Job Responsibilities:

• Assemble new bikes

• Perform intake of customer bikes for service and repair

• Be attuned to customer needs on the sales floor

• Operate cash register to complete sales transactions

• Lead or support shop rides and community workshops

• Keep the shop environment clean, safe, and organized

• Other shop duties, as assigned

 

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

• Working knowledge of how bicycles are assembled and repaired

• 1-3 years of bike maintenance/bike shop experience

• Familiarity with all types of bikes and bike accessories

• Ability to lift ~50 pounds

• Love of bikes

 

Schedule:

• 10-15 hours per week, with potential to increase

• Friday and Saturday availability is required

 

Compensation:

• Starts at $15 per hour, based on experience, with potential to grow
